Thursday 10th of September is World Suicide Prevention Day.
According to the recently released World Health Organization (WHO) report: Preventing Suicide: A Global Imperative, over 800,000 people die by suicide across the world each year. Many of you know that we recently lost our lovely Dan in this way.

This year, ‘Preventing Suicide: Reaching Out and Saving Lives’ is the theme of the 2015 World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD).
SToRMS aims to mark this by asking you all to join us on a candle lit/torch lit walk from Millhouses Park, to Dan’s bench in Ecclesall Woods.
This year, the theme encourages us all to consider the role
that offering support may play in combating suicide. SToRMS believes that this walk symbolizes our collective strength, our unwavering support for one another, and our willingness to talk openly about suicide.

This walk is an expression of our belief that #SharingIsStrength .
It will also act as an opportunity to remember Dan, and to remind us why we must all support eachother.

Our walk is just one event in a host of worldwide campaigns, initiatives, and memorials which will happen on 10th of September. Please join us in our small contribution.

If you cannot attend our event, but still wish to show your support, please light a candle at 8pm and place it near a window. By doing this you show your support for World Suicide Prevention Day, suicide prevention and awareness, survivors of suicide and for the memory of loved lost ones. Please take a photo of your candle, and post it on our Facebook page, or tweet it to us at SToRMSdmc

We will be lighting candles for Dan at his bench at 8pm, so please bring a light with you so you can join in with this.

We will be meeting outside Millhouses Park Cafe at 7pm, and we hope to see you there.

Please share this event!
